Hippie Soul - A New Shop in Town
Deep down in my soul, I've always been a little bit bohemian. You probably wouldn't know it from looking at me, but it's true. (That's the realtor coming out in me - can't show all my crazy hippie ways every day!) I love the creativity and expression of using clothes and jewelry to express who you are. So, as you can imagine, my interest was immediately piqued when I saw the signs for a new shop around town called Hippie Soul. It was like they were calling my name.
The Owners
Hippie Soul is a local family-owned shop with a hippie and bohemian flair, located at 120 Central Ave (aka Short Central) in Summerville. Janice Vick opened the shop with her daughter a few short months ago. Their motivation; To embrace the things they already loved and share them with others. They knew they wanted to be in the Summerville area and this location is perfect. From the vibrant blue door and fun artwork to the exposed brick, this place is the perfect combination of happy vibes and historic charm.
My Experience
When I stopped in last week, I was immediately welcomed by a warm, friendly face. Janice spent time helping me look through the racks of clothes for something my style, and answering all sorts of questions about her products. She also gave me space to look (ooh and ahh) over ALL the neat things they offer. Whether you are looking for a surcee for yourself or someone special in your life, you are sure to find all sorts of happy, unique clothing, jewelry, and gifts. In case that's a new term for you, Surcee is a southern term that has been passed down for generations. The definition of a surcee is a thoughtful and unexpected surprise gift. Who doesn't love a good surprise?!
This store is such a fun place to poke around and has a lot to see. There are three different rooms filled with treasures! As you can see from the photos, they cater to people and furbabies. From bellbottoms, bohemian style dream catchers, and Himalayan salt lamps to air plants and dog beds ... they really do have it all. I saw on their facebook page recently that they will even be offering art classes soon for hippie-inspired styles.
When you stop in, be sure to say hello to Janice. She's a gem!
