Coastal Produce - Since 1991!

Fresh Produce

Who What and Where

Coastal Produce is a long-time icon in Summerville and a great place to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.  It’s located on the corner of West 4th North St and North Cedar St and has been since they opened in 1991.  The father/son team of CB and Mike Gray started the business almost 30 years ago and it’s been running strong ever since. An interesting side note, Mr. Mike Gray was born right across the street where a hospital once stood!

What They Offer

Originally Coastal Produce was much smaller but has expanded as our sweet town of Summerville also grew.  In addition to the produce, which most is locally grown, they offer a variety of other local items.  You will find honey, honey mustard and honey butter from Bee City, Maurice's BBQ sauces, and a huge variety of pickled products.  And if you have a sweet tooth, they have that covered too with so many choices of jams and jellies.  One other item I have to mention is the apple butter.  It reminds me of my childhood; it was one of my mom's favorites.   Not only apple butter, but you'll also find peach, pear and cherry butter too.  Yum!  And of course, they have local shrimp.

When you walk outside, you'll see some beautiful hanging baskets for your front porch.  If your front porch is needing a swing, you can find that here too along with other outdoor furniture.  Coastal Produce is a great place to browse around if you haven’t been there yet.

Impact On the Community

Coastal Produce believes in giving back to the community by supporting many Summerville youth baseball and football teams.  They also provide fresh produce for Ice House and Tasty Freeze, two local restaurants.  Their greatest contribution to the community may just be the friendship, service, and care they provide their customers, especially their regulars.  Shopping in a small town local produce market where they know you and are excited to see you is a rare experience in today's world.  It's things like this that make life in Summerville so special.

Mr. CB Gray passed away in 1995 and the business is now run by the father/daughter team of Mike and Jessica.  While talking with Jessica recently, she warmly greeted each customer when they walked in as if they were a friend.  Help was provided for anyone that needed it and questions answered.  It is definitely a warm and welcoming place to shop.

The next time you are out grocery shopping, check out the Coastal Produce market.  Become a regular.  You will not be disappointed.
