Deliciously Southern - Baker's Garden BBQ Kitchen

Several people suggested I try Baker’s Garden BBQ Kitchen on Central Avenue here in Summerville.  I finally got out there between Christmas and New Years and honestly, totally fell in love with the place and the people.   It has a very southern, authentic vibe.  Kay, the owner, was as sweet as she could be and showed my husband and I around the place.  Not only are there the gardens, indoors and out, there’s a gift shop, a restaurant, and a separate dining/meeting area in the garden for events complete with fireplace.  It would be perfect for birthday parties, baby showers, or any celebration with up to maybe 35 people.

When you visit, if you’re interested in the history of Summerville, Kay is very knowledgeable and willing to share her knowledge.  I found out some more fun things about our town which I’ll share in other posts!  Once we finished browsing the grounds and gift shop, we wandered into the restaurant and met Dennis, Kay’s husband and co-owner, and Cathy, a long time friend and member of the Baker’s team.  Lunch was delicious.  Of course I had the pulled pork.  The sides looked and tasted amazing … my husband and shared the mac and cheese, the hash and rice, and broccoli salad.  Definitely recommend!

To top off our lunch, we splurged on blueberry cobbler and bought one of their famous Sweet Tea Pecan Pies for a get together we were going to later that night.  How could we resist?  Their Sweet Tea Pecan Pie won Dish of the Year - Azalea Magazine in 2014!

I will be back and posting a video in the spring of her garden center when everything is starting to come to life and blooming.  In the meantime, support a long time local and enjoy the afternoon at Baker’s Garden BBQ Kitchen.  They're located at 807 Central Avenue in Summerville.  You’ll feel the love and passion the place was built on.  By the way, the restaurant is only open Thursday thru Saturdays, 11am to 7pm, dine in or carry out.  Let me know what you think.
