October Events and Things to Do
Hello! Flowertown Realty in Downtown Summerville here! There are lots of things going on right now in the Summerville area so we wanted to tell you a little about them.
First there is Scarecrows on the Square, stop anytime October 14-29, 2022 to check out the creativity on display around Hutchinson Square in the heart of Summerville. Scarecrows are created by Businesses, Civic Groups, Individuals and Schools. Flowertown Realty will have a scarecrow on Display as well.
The next event is Summerville’s annual Ghostwalk hosted by the Junior Service League of Summerville and will take place on Saturday, October 16th from 6-9 PM. All are invited to dress up in their best costumes and meet in Town Square for an evening of fall family fun! Ghostwalk features three guided tour options – G, PG, and PG-13 – to ensure a spooky time for guests of all ages. In addition to the walking tours, the event will feature entertainment, games, hayrides, and food vendors. Advance tickets are $5 and $8 day-of-event. All tickets include access to all games, activities, and one guided Ghostwalk tour. Hayride tickets are sold separately for $4. The event is FREE for children 3 and under. Flowertown Realty will be sponsoring a game, so be sure to stop by for a scary good time!
Summerville Dream will of course have this month's third Thursday on October 20, with the Happy Halloween theme. This event is located Downtown on Hutchinson Square, Little Main, and Short Street. This event is from 5:30-8:30 and will feature local entertainment, craft vendors and artisans, to complement the extended hours of our eclectic shops, boutiques and restaurants.
Additionally, the Summerville Parks and Recreation is hosting a Special Needs Halloween Dance on October 22 from 6-8pm. This is open to ages 10 and older. They will have Dj & Dancing along with snacks and light refreshments, costumes are also highly encouraged. This event will be held at the Rollins Edwards Community Center. There will be Downtown Summerville Trick or Treating on Saturday October 29 from 10am-1pm. This will be held on Hutchinson square during the farmers market starting at 8am, and then head downtown to the Summerville merchants.
Bethany United Methodist Church will have a Gift & Gourmet Market October 26-30 and November 2-6. Go shop for traditional gifts and decor, along with homemade baked goods, casseroles, and soups. All proceeds support Local and Global Missions.
Timrod Library Fall Fest will be Saturday, November 5 from 9:30-2:00pm where they will have a book sale, 50/50 drawing, casseroles, baked goods, sweetgrass baskets, timeless treasures, and even an okra soup pre sale!
As you can see there is plenty to do this fall season so make sure you get out and enjoy the livelihood of Summerville and all it has to offer!
