The Knightsville General Store is a hidden gem. I’ve heard of it over the last couple of years but only recently visited during their monthly Porch Jam.
It’s some good old-fashioned family fun on a summer night. Every 2nd Saturday from 5-8pm, talented musicians entertain from the front porch of the store while everyone sits on the front lawn visiting, relaxing and enjoying the music. Kids are playing corn hole or some unknown game in the backfield. Dan Riley Music organizes the musical side of the event each month and has some musicians of all ages playing. Last month a younger group played and were quite impressive. Hope they come back.
Music is great but not complete without southern home cooked food and the Knightsville General Store doesn’t disappoint. After setting up our chairs on the lawn, we headed into the store to grab some dinner. Chicken and dumplings, meatloaf, and pulled pork are all on the menu with other southern traditions. We grabbed a plate with some sweet tea and went back outside.
So now that I’ve discovered this place, I’ve also realized it’s a perfect place for lunches as well. They’re minutes from downtown Summerville and have a great atmosphere. They also have meals to go if you don’t want to cook dinner. And to finish off lunch in this hot summer heat, they have an ice cream parlor inside. Who can resist ice cream when it’s 100 degrees outside?
OK, I like adventure and fun so when I saw this I automatically fell in love with the owners who I knew had to have the same fun spirit. As soon as I met Randy and Lori Sparks, the owners, I knew I was right. Make sure you get to know them when you’re there. As far as the foosball goes, all I’m going to say is you have to see the video – watch it here. If anyone wants to start a game, count me in! I’m serious, call me!
Small-town charm, affordable prices, delicious food, friendly owners, great entertainment, and community events…that’s what you’ll find here. Follow them on facebook for daily specials, family meal options, and events they have planned. They are open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Check them out…you won’t regret it!
