How will you and your family celebrate our National Independence Day? We’ll be heading to Gahagan Park to see the fireworks but there are several fun events around town that you may want to check out. Here’s information on a few. Make sure to read up on the parking for the events – it’ll save you a lot of hassle when you get there.
This 4th of July will mark 243 years since America became free from the reign of Britain. The Continental Congress officially adopted the final version of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776. This document has since become our nation’s most cherished symbol of liberty. The Declaration of Independence is full of powerful words from our founding fathers. They ring true with my spirit and stir up gratefulness, a strong sense of pride for this great country, and honor for my fellow countrymen.
No matter how you decide to celebrate our independence, be sure to remember those who have fought to gain and protect our freedom. A good friend of mine, Brian Calhoun, is a photojournalist with the South Carolina National Guard. His pictures always amaze me and this is a perfect opportunity for me to share them with you. The fireworks we’ll see this 4th of July are nothing compared to the firepower of our armed forces. I’m posting a couple of photos but you can find more of his incredible work here. Thank you to all our service men and women who continue to keep our America free.
Celebrate our National Independence Day!
