Hello! We wanted to share some information about relocating to the Summerville area, some things that you should know and what to expect. Summerville known as Flowertown in the Pines, and loved for its beauty, rich history, and southern charm. Summerville offers a wide variety of activities to enjoy including community events, delicious dining experiences, recreational activities, and a plethora of local shops to peruse. However, its beauty doesn't stop there. Summerville is located only 20 miles from Historic Downtown Charleston, you will always find something to do. The opportunities are truly endless!

WHY SUMMERVILLE?

  • Employment Opportunities
    • Summerville and the surrounding area(s) offer a multitude of different job opportunities from tech to military. There are also a plethora of companies creating headquarters in the low country.
  • Scenery
    • The town of Summerville is recognized for their commitment to nature and reservation. From azaleas to the towering pines, you will notice the lush and beautiful landscape on a drive through our town nicknamed "Flowertown".
  • Housing availability 
    • New homes for sale in Summerville are some of the largest in the area and feature high end amenities. Even when the national number of homes for sale was down, Summerville still stayed in the top percent of homes on the market.

FLOWERTOWN FESTIVAL

  • The Flowertown Festival is the Y’s premiere fundraiser founded in 1973 to support health and wellness programs at the Y. Every spring, thousands of people visit Summerville to see nature’s bounty awash in color, from the hot pink azaleas, to the purple wisteria, to the delicate white dogwood. On this three-day weekend, festival-goers transcend this gracious Southern town to take in the flowers and hospitality and attend one of the largest arts and crafts festivals in the Southeast: The Summerville Family YMCA Flowertown Festival.

SWEET TEA FESTIVAL

  • As the birthplace of sweet tea and the hub for the largest glass of sweet tea it is only fitting that the Sweet Tea festival commence every September in downtown Summerville. The Sweet Tea festival is a week long celebration and literally the "Sweetest Week Ever". Events include free Sweet Tea sampling, food trucks, crafts, and so much more. This festival is sponsored by Summerville Dream.

THIRD THURSDAYS

  • On the third Thursday of each month Historic Downtown Summerville transforms into a special marketplace featuring local entertainment, craft vendors and artisans, to complement the extended hours of our eclectic shops, boutiques and restaurants. This event lasts from 5:30pm-8:30pm rain or shine, and is sponsored by Summerville Dream.

SUMMERVILLE ITALIAN FESTIVAL

  • Experience authentic Italian cuisine in Hutchinson Square, the heart of downtown Summerville, as well as food of all types from the Low country. Enjoy Italian wine and beer. Enjoy the entertainment of local artists celebrating Italian Culture and Heritage throughout the day. Enjoy local talent from the students.

SUMMERVILLE ROTARY OKTOBERFEST

  • The Summerville Oakbrook Rotary Club and the Summerville Evening Rotary Club present their annual Summerville Rotary Oktoberfest. This is a family-friendly event with games, music, food, and beer. Located in Hutchinson Square, Summerville, SC.

  • Speak with a lender to determine your price range.

  • Start a list (including MLS numbers) of properties that look interesting.
  • Visit open houses, drive by listings, research crime, schools, and neighborhoods.
  • Schedule home tours with your agent.
  • Refine criteria and/or price as needed.
  • Continue tours, open houses, and drive bys’.
  • Identify a home to purchase.
  • Meet with your agent to craft an offer (two hours); obtain pre-approval letter, write deposit check.
  • Negotiate offer → ratify offer.
  • Finalize choice of lender, make loan
  • application, and lock rate.
  • Manage contingencies & inspections.
  • Arrange for utilities & insurance.
  • Review final good faith estimate & get cashier’s check.
  • Attend settlement (“closing”).
