Bee City – A Love of Honeybees

Bee City Honey Shop

Bee City Beginnings

Bee City Farm is family-owned and operated.  Started over thirty years ago,  the family has a love for honeybees and a passion to educate people about the importance of bees to our world.  Right on their farm, they make many products from honey and beeswax.    Bee City honey is pure raw honey.  Raw honey has nothing added, and the pollen has not removed.  Also, the honey is never heated saving the good properties in the honey.  In their Honey Shop besides honey, there is also a line of beeswax lotions, lip balm, and soaps.

Additions to Bee City

Over the years, because of their love for animals, a petting zoo was born!  You can hand-feed many of the animals including monkeys, llamas, alpacas, deer, goats, and sheep.  Other animals you will see there are wallabies (kangaroos native to Australia), coatimundis (similar to raccoons but with slimmer bodies, native to South America), serval cats (wild cats native to Africa), and Cavies (guinea pigs native to South America).  The farm animals you will see include miniature horses, donkeys, chickens, pheasants, and quail.

The reptile center features native snakes, turtles, frogs, fish, alligators, and lizards.

The Aviary Center has been redesigned and the beautiful birds that reside there are waiting for everyone to come to visit them.  They are beautiful shades of green, yellow and blue.  Some will even sit on your arm if you want them to.

Joey is a spider monkey that arrived at Bee City to be part of the zoo family in the fall of 2014.  While observing Joey in the zoo, the family felt his needs would be better met if he lived with them.  Joey lives in the house and has made life remarkably interesting for them.  He has an Instagram account that is being followed by over 800 people.  Join the Instagram account to see what it is like to have a monkey as part of your family and daily life.
